Hi-Tec Sports was founded in the appropriately named village of Shoeburyness, Essex, in 1974 by Dutch entrepreneur Frank Van Wezel, who wanted to create a comfortable shoe for playing squash. The 90’s saw Hit-Tec go from strength to strength in the sporting world appearing on the likes of mountaineer Adrian Crane, worn by 52 premiership players in 92 and becoming the official shoe of Wimbledon in the 1995 tennis championships.
